Niagara Falls is one of the most beautiful sights in North America.  Niagara Falls is located between Canada and the United States.  Ontario, Canada, and New York, USA, are two cities on the border between Niagara Falls.

Also, this waterfall can be identified as two main parts.  But it also has three waterfalls, Horseshoe Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and American Falls.  The largest area to the left of it is identified as Canada.  It is thought to have the shape of a horseshoe, hence the name Horseshoe.  It is approximately 170 feet high and 2,500 feet long.  The other part of Niagara Falls is located in the eastern part of the United States and is approximately 180 feet high and 1100 feet long.  About 90% of the fish live in the waterfall.  Experts say white foam bubbles from the waterfall block their fall.

There are various theories as to how Niagara Falls got its name.  There, in the 17th century, the area came to be known as niagagaregs, hence the name Niagara.  It is said that the area got its name from some tribesmen who called it ongniaahra, and that this area between the lakes between Erie and Ontario resembles a human neck.

The water that falls from this waterfall is now being used to generate hydroelectric power, which is of great benefit.  About 5.5 billion gallons of water fall from the falls every hour, 50% of which is used to generate electricity in the United States and Canada.  6000 gallons of water fall per minute from Niagara Falls.  Niagara Falls meets 20% of the water requirement of the United States.  This waterfall has been a major tourist attraction since 1812 AD.

Considering the uniqueness of this waterfall, it connects two countries as well as the lakes of Erie and Ontario.  Niagara Falls flows through four of the five major rivers.  Water flows from Niagara Falls to the Niagara River and then across the Ontario, St. Lawrence, eventually into the Atlantic Ocean.  Niagara Falls is also thought to have formed as a result of the Grease.  Also, this is a waterfall that is longer than the height and therefore enhances its beauty.  As the sun sets in the evening, it brings a beautiful view to the eyes of the tourists.  Many visitors believe that this environment, with its high winds and water droplets, is a place where fascinating thoughts descend.

Also, this waterfall is very popular among couples who are going on a honeymoon.  It is also used to make many movies.  ‘Super Man’, Marilyn Monroe starrer ‘Niagara’ was filmed near Niagara Falls.

Many people have tried to cross this waterfall and many of them have died.  Two have died in the last 10 years.  But the first person to cross this line was considered to be a 63-year-old woman in 1901.  The bedrock of this waterfall erodes about 4 feet per year due to the high volume of water that falls.  In this way, the Niagara Falls can be identified as a beautiful creation of nature and it is also a world resource.
